Microsoft and Fujitsu have signed an agreement to work together in the cloud computing segment, The Wall Street Journal has reported.

Citing sources familiar with the matter, the Wall Street Journal reports that the companies have already signed the papers and will most likely announce the partnership later this week.

The cloud computing agreement will allow Microsoft to use Fujitsu's data centre and corporate customer base whilst Fujitsu will now be able to offer the Microsoft's Azure cloud platform to its customers.

The Microsoft Azure platform allows users internet-based access to Microsoft software stored at data centres world wide.

The Wall Street Journal said that Fujitsu is planning increasing its presence in the cloud computing market by developing cloud computing data centres in the US, Australia, Germany and Singapore by the end of the year.



The company also plans to spend around $1.1 billion on cloud computing related businesses over this fiscal year.
